How to find business grants in the UK

Published 26 October 2026. Information last checked 26 October 2026.

There is no single list of every business grant in the UK. Schemes come from government, local authorities, growth hubs and other bodies, and each has its own rules.

Where to start

  • GOV.UK business finance and support finder. Search for grants, loans and support by region, industry and business size.
  • Your local growth hub or council. Many offer free advice on local funding.
  • Industry bodies. Some sectors have their own funds.

Check eligibility first

Read who can apply, what the money can be spent on, whether you must match the funding, and the deadline. Funding can close early.

Be careful with grant offers

No one can guarantee a grant. Treat anyone who does, or who asks for large upfront fees, with caution. Ask what you pay and when, in writing.

When to get help

A specialist can save time by finding relevant schemes and helping with applications. Funders still make every decision.
